Before I went to see this show I have seen both of G3 shows with Joe Satriani. I really like his playing. I decided to go to the show by myself.
There were 2 opening bands. the first band was a one man show named Johny...something I forgot. He played only the chapman stick (blues music) in the guitar range that's really cool. He played about half an hour then left the stage.
The second band was Derek Trucks (sounds like country or southern rock band to me). This band had the similar style as Dixie Dregs. They had a saxophone player and a 6-string bass player. Derek Trucks was the guitar player, he looked pretty young with long blond hair. I liked the drummer (only a dark guy in the band). He played drums really hard.
Then Satriani came out with the trio (Stu Hamm on bass but I forgot the name of the drummer, sorry.). I guess some people might come to see the show because of Stu Hamm. Satriani played old and new stuff including songs from "Surfing with the Aliens" as well. It was hard to remember the name of the songs because they were all instrumental. Satriani's playing is always good to me. His style is mellow if you compare to other guitar heroes like Steve Vai. Vai is too crazy on stage.
I did not buy anything from the show. There were some posters, t-shirts, cd's, calendar, etc.
