GRAND PARADE (Genesis Tribute)
Somar Gallery, San Francisco
February 2, 1997

I happened to know that there was a Genesis tribute band in the Bay Area named Grand Parade. I managed to buy the tickets to see the show at the Somar Gallery on Brannan St. The show was excellent. I never had a chance to see Grand Parade before (never saw a real Genesis concert either).

The leader and guitar player of the band is Tim. He's so much into Hackett's sound. When I met Tim in front of the gallery this evening, he said "I'm Steve Hackett." He ever asked me "Do I look like Hackett?" He dressed like Steve Hackett! He's realy Steve Hackett fan, isn't he?

Everybody in the band did a great job, except some annoying sounds from the speakers. The singer was pretty good. He had all costumes, such as, flower, the pyramid mask, the fox head and red dress and a skin cap and wig made to look like Gabriel's triangular forehead haircut. The drummer was pretty good too. The bass player played a mini-moog bass. The band had nice slide shows too.

The set list they played:

It was a good show. I do not know when they will play again. All members have jobs to do and they only get together once in a while for practices and for shows. Only Tim is British, the rest of the band are Americans. If they play any time in the future I will be sure not to miss.
