The Dream Theater show last night was the most "dead tired" show I have ever been to. It can beat the Primus, Megadeth or Bruce Dickinson shows. DT fans had so much energy to mosh, jump, slam and such! I was very cloas to the stage, third row. We (I & my friends) were the second group who arrived at the Maritime Hall since 5:30 p.m. The door opened at 8 p.m. It was very cold waiting outside but it was worth it.
When we got inside the hall, they played Karn evil 9 by ELP before the show because Keith Emerson just played at this place the night before.
The opening act "Full on The Mouth" was okay. They played some tracks from the sony video games that they wrote for the game company. The lead singer looked like Sammy Hagar when he gets really fat. His voice was opposite from what he looked like. It's very poppy though.
After Full On The Mouth finished, we had to wait for about 30-45 minutes for them to set the stage. DT always had a big drum set. It's like a cercular set so that he could turn around and hit all those drums like Neil Peart (Rush) did before.
The set list from what I remember: (not in order)
This show was a lot better / longer than the last show in Palo Alto. They started around 10:30 p.m. and ended at 1:15 a.m. something. Portnoy had the small drum set in front of the stage and he took one drum to let people one the left and right of the stage hit it (This guy can really control the crowd). Petrucci laid on the stage and played some cool solos. Oh...James LaBrie was perfect in this show.
They had t-shirts (a lot nicer than the last show), pins and tour books.
I am waiting to see Dream Theater come back to play with Deep Purple and ELP. I will go to see them again.
