THE BEVIS FROND with Brother JT.
The Great American Music Hall, San Francisco
April 16, 1998

I had a chance to see The Bevis Frond / Brother JT. show. I decided to go to the show at the last minute. I did not buy the ticket for this show earlier because I was not going to see them. I went to the show a little late and saw Brother JT. He looked so funny though. Brother JT. was some sort of punk and garage band. They are an okay band for me. But for the Bevis Frond, they put on a very impressive show. I have never heard anything by the Bevis Frond (besides Nick Soloman's project with Nurse With Wound and Curent 93) before I got to see the show. The crowd looked different from prog shows I have seen.

The Bevis Frond was a trio psychedelic rock / folk style (old style like bands in the 70's). Really good! I like Nick's guitar playing. It's an old style but excellent. I don't know why he reminds me of Uraih Heep. He sings very well too!

I read the Camel mailing list and just found out that the crazy drummer of the Bevis Frond is Andy Ward who had played with Camel for a while. He IS a good drummer, not so technical but a real insane drummer!!

I do not know any of songs they played, so I can't write any setlist for this show. Bevis Frond came back for the encore twice. First time with the entire band but the second time just only Nick playing guitar and singing.

At the back of the hall, there was a poster of Brother JT. (self portrait) with words "You SHOULD buy something" and he looks so serious in that picture. That's very funny. I bought myself a grey t-shirt of the Bevis Frond with a logo in orange colour in the front.
